Title: Fluorescent Hues Before Dawn, and the Outlines of Life
Although I woke up a little late, I set out for my morning photography routine at the usual time. The sunrise in this rural town is now at 4:51 AM. As the dawn breaks later, I have to light my path with a flashlight. I walk with green fluorescent gear glowing, yet it is always frightening when a car suddenly approaches in the dark.
Walking from Sayama Pond toward the north side of the base, I noticed many transport planes parked there today. On my way back, I was almost hit by a speeding van that ignored a red light. It recklessly turned at the nearby intersection. That sheer fragility of life reminded me of the silent SOS signals emitted by children in the corners of a classroom.
Back home, after finishing my meal and my dog's morning routine, I spent the day mowing the lawn. It grows so much in just two weeks; I suppose the next time will be around the 20th. After mowing, I went shopping for apples and granola. With that, my schedule for the day is complete, leaving me to write my diary and watch TV.
The temperature was a comfortable 21°C during my morning walk and 27°C at three in the afternoon. I wish autumn would just arrive and stay, though I wonder if that might trouble some people. Still, I cannot help but feel deep sorrow for my aging companion dog, who is growing weaker. It feels as though she is trying her absolute best just to live. I wish for the weather to cool down soon so she can regain her strength, praying quietly to the unseen stars in the night sky.
